I gave this recipe to my mom and when we went to visit my oldest was eating her bread and said, "I hate to tell you this mom, but grandma's bread is better than yours." Huh? She made it with my recipe! Too funny. Glad yours turned out well :)Angelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13564720462613298012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215545723237458252.post-55573278367550054222010-06-20T09:40:47.225-06:002010-06-20T09:40:47.225-06:00I made your bread the other day and it was SOOOOOO...I made your bread the other day and it was SOOOOOO good. It made 8 loaves because my pans are smaller. I gave 5 away and everyone said it was my best bread yet. I added chopped dried cranberries, chopped walnuts, ground flax and sunflower seeds to 4 of the loaves. Will definitely be making this one again and again! Soaking the oats first is a great idea. Your photos are very helpful, too. My doughs end up too sticky so much of the time and I'm afraid to add too much flour for fear the bread will end up too dense.GWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02772687196501905953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215545723237458252.post-32607762079661317692010-02-11T07:35:22.593-07:002010-02-11T07:35:22.593-07:00OH, that looks divine! That's how I've done oatmeal bread for years and it always ends up super moist instead of an oven-produced brick (like other recipes that add the grain dry and it just sucks the life out of your bread). Well done my dear! Oh...and thanks for the shout out on the dough kneading too...you know that made me smile really big! Hey...I need one of your mills with the bean auger! Wow! You know what I'm doing with my tax return right?!Chef Tesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14056350814296556107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215545723237458252.post-26051340988680903632010-02-10T17:43:11.858-07:002010-02-10T17:43:11.858-07:00I really need to intruduce my wife to your blog, c...I really need to intruduce my wife to your blog, cause that looks real good.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215545723237458252.post-71041764765312201222010-02-10T10:11:02.759-07:002010-02-10T10:11:02.759-07:00Cindy--we're buried in snow also and yes, hot ...Cindy--we're buried in snow also and yes, hot bread is especially good on a cold day :)

Mom--That would work if I were doing a small batch like you do. What do you do? 2 or 3 loaves? With two big ol' bowls to raise and a house that's never very warm (especially in the winter), I need the oven. :)

Hermit--let me know how it turns out :) I think you'll like it if you can get it made.

Rainbow--you're very welcome. It's our favorite and I've had a few people local ask for the recipe, so I thought I'd give them the whole tutorial with it.

Adrianna--I get my 6 grain from Honeyville Grain. honeyvillegrain.com Other food storage places and granaries have it as well. 7 or 9 grain cereal would also work as would plain old rolled oats. The 6 grain cereal from Honeyville has Red Whole Wheat Flakes, White Whole Wheat Flakes, Barley Flakes, Oatmeal, Rye Flakes, and Sunflower Seed.

Melonie--it's worth the extra effort to make this over plain white bread. I really like it. It's the norm here though, so the kids get real excited when dad brings home a loaf of store white bread. Funny kids. ;)Angelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13564720462613298012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3215545723237458252.post-87513908844845540252010-02-10T04:45:49.244-07:002010-02-10T04:45:49.244-07:00Wow, this sounds scrumptious!!!
