I sneak veggies into all kinds of dishes by powdering them... The older our boys have gotten the more picky they have become. They still eat what I cook but they would prefer pizza at almost every meal. So in order to get in more nutrition, I use veggie powders!
Morgan-Maybe could do potatoes. I don't see why not. They get quite hard with drying also, so you'd want to go the same method of blend, dry the mush, then blend again. It would be worth a try.
Peggy--:) It hasn't been generally announced on the blog. Totally not planned, but the kids are thrilled about it and I'm adjusting to the idea of being a mommy of a little one again. Should be fun.

How about beets?? I had a bumper crop that is now in the freezer, but really, how many can a person eat??? I could sure make you some baby food with some of it :) I dehydrated some pureed pumpkin last fall and was wondering how I would ever use it, but I put some in some stew I made - worked great. Helped thicken it a bit too.
I'm with Peggy--I didn't know you were expecting!! Congratulations! So, you're due in the spring? How fun! I'm a committed spring baby mother and my third is due this May. :)
And yes, this is such a great idea!! If we can kill the awful slugs next year and get a better yield of carrots, I would love to try this.

Hello, I was wondering.. think this would work with frozen peas as well? I am expecting.. my 1st GRAND BABIES (both DILS are expecting!) soon and I would really like to do this for them. I am going to do Sweet potatos, and carrots tomorrow but thought about the peas and opening a jar of green beans... hmm maybe not green beans I think I added salt??? Anyway Thank you so Much for this awesome idea! Blessings Gerty
Gerty--Exciting for you! You could sure try peas. My only thought with them is that the baby foods in the stores say "strained" peas, so maybe the outer part of the pea doesn't cream up too well? If you're pulverizing it in your food processor and blender it might not matter though. I'd try a few to start and see how smooth they reconstituted before doing a lot of them. Good luck!
Hello Again.. I tried Sweet potatoes, carrots and the peas... dried AWESOME I still can't seem to get them into enough of a Powder form to hydrate into something smooth... kinda grainy on my tongue. Well yes I tasted them HAHA I had to make sure they were good! Anyway The peas dried GREAT looked funny on the sheet after drying... any ideas for me? Thank you in advance! Blessings Gerty
