Keep chipping away at paying off your debt. And learn to cook from scratch or off the land as much as possible.
The less cash flow you need, the better off you will be - now, and in case of an emergency. And the more able you will be to help your family and friends if needed.
I'm here from Moo said the mama's blog. Lots of great info here that I will come back to peruse over time. But what I really love is your playlist!! :-) Some of them are my very, very favorite songs that I grew up with my dad playing as often as possible!! Oh the memories!! Thanks for the warm fuzzies in the midst of serious business. ;-) Blessings! Kris
Great post and funny you should mention that. I'm going to be busy this weekend doing two important things. 1. I'm canning grape jelly and maybe some other things that will use up grapes. I got a hold of a case of grapes from a produce truck that broke down in our town. Nothing better than free grapes to make jelly with.
That makes me give one more suggestion, Become friends with the owner or tow truck drivers who tow in the big rigs because you may find some really awesome deals on really good produce the next time a big rig breaks down in your area.
2. we are splitting and stacking the wood we hauled in from our forest service wood permit.
You just never know what's going to happen tomorrow so being prepared today is the way to go!
In the past 3 years, we've endured the remnants of a hurricane (in the Ohio valley-no power for a week), our well was struck by lightning and destroyed and now my husband is laid off. It sounds like a bad country music song, eh? Thank Goodness for preparation! Thank Goodness for food storage!
I agree that the time to do anything is always now. I would respectfully encourage us all to prayerfully ask Heavenly Father where to start. He will lead you through even the darkest of days.
I agree with you about doing just something. Anything. Just start. If you have a week's worth of food in your home, you're better off than most people. If you know how to make just one nutritious meal out of locally grown foods, you're in better shape than many.
And in case you like to read the right side of a page, this blog and all the new posts have moved to Food Storage and Survival, so head on over there to read more!

Thank you for posting. It's a heartbreaking reality...and we DO need to do something, even just a little bit, every chance we can.
Time to take action is before we need it! So many folks are being hurt right now...my heart just goes out to them!
Have a good holiday, and thanks for such a timely post!

Oh, that's too bad! My heart goes out to those folks. I hope all turns out well for them.

And it grows from that. :)
